Very easy to hold, but like all Julienne peelers, very very sharp, so be careful! This one has a blade cover, a welcome safety feature. Perfect for making courgetti, which if you don't know, is a virtually zero-calorie spaghetti substitute made by julienne slicing courgettes using a gadget like this, or a spiralizer. Reviews for spiralizers were so poor, I chose this and I'm very happy with it.

Super comfy handle, this is my second oxo good grips peeler (I have the "normal" version too) and I love them. Stands up to heavy use (I'm a professional chef) and I love the built in guard on these newer versions

PROS:This peeler has become my go-to tool for adding julienned vegetables to salads, pad Thai noodle dishes, and spring rolls. It glides smoothly across cucumbers, zucchinis, and even crunchy carrots. Clean up is a breeze, unlike having to clean the many parts of a food processor. Not only is this peeler lightweight, but the rubbery surface provides a comfortable, firm grip.*** Here's a HACK for julienning entire carrots:It can be a little tricky using every last bit of carrot after most of it has been whittled down to just a nub. To save my fingers, I use a fork to pierce the thick end of the carrot to hold it firmly in place while I peel the rest. This should be done on a chopping board and not on a wobbly plate. May the fork be with you for safe peeling!CON:I wish that the plastic safety cover would stay in place better. It flips on/off far too easy to be functional. Occasionally, the blades get clogged with bits of carrot but are easy to clear out.

Love this, used vitrinox julienne peelers at work previously but they weren't that sturdy. This is and it's really ergonomic. The julienne is slightly more coarse than on a mandoline for any professionals, but for home use like spiralised courgette or shredded carrot, apple even raw beetroot (if you dont mind the mess) etc, it's great. I've even used on cheese and have recommended to friends and family.Best to clean it straight after use if you don't have a dishwasher or give it a bit of a soak to make your life easier.

A win in the vegetables departement with this one, gives a semi-professional twist to our dishes, but beware this is sharp as heck. I have opted to place whatever vegetable I want to julienne on to the chopping board and pinning whatever it is down with a fork, and then shredded towards myself. This way I don't have to find out if my finger tips are gonna make it yet another day, the blades promise to go deep into what ever they hit, and I, like most others I imagine, would like to avoid this. Must be a video out there with more helpful tips but this is my contribution.

This Oxo good grips is just the job for very fine julienne. I found it best to lie the carrot or whatever on a chopping board and this is much easier than trying to hold the veg. There is a nifty plastic blade cover for when not being used.Even turning the vegetable to be julienned around so that you can work from both ends alternatively there was still a fair amount of waste. Also sometimes the julienned piece were still joined and needed a quick pick over and pull apart.I think the julienned veg is cut so fine it doesn't need any cooking and really adds something to dishes especially Thai food.

I bought this item for my mother. It has a protective cover when it's not in use and the thickness of the handle was perfect for hard vegetables. The new design is worse. The blade gets stuck making it difficult to peel. Also the handle is thinner so it's not easy to use anymore. My mother has problems with her fingers and now she is having difficulties. This was the only peeler that she was able to use.We got a replacement and it's still same problems. She can't use this one so we are returning this one.

Like all of the Oxo "Good Grips" range this fits the hand nicely and is comfortable to use. By the very nature of this sort of peeler there's quite a bit of the vegetable that you can't cut safely (I use it mostly on courgettes and carrots) but the results are very good and it's a lot less fiddly and dangerous to use than a mandoline. There's a flip-down cover to protect you from the blade while the peeler's in storage. This isn't a great fit and has popped off a couple of times but is easy to refit. Overall recommended.
